Press release from the Ministry:
On 6 February, the winner was selected in a competition for the conceptual design of a commemorative marker to Zigfrids Anna Meierovics, first Foreign Minister of Latvia. The commission unanimously selected the concept created by Ivars Drulle as the most suitable design for a commemorative marker. The concept is based on the minister's signature, which is a symbolic acknowledgement of the significance of personality in decisive historical moments. . The plaque will be displayed in the central assembly hall on the ground floor of the Ministry building. |

| 25. September, 2008 The residency at the Valmiera State Gymnasium is over. They have great park where to install artwork. Unfortunatelty it is no safe – local teenagers during the night often destroy sculptures and installations. I wanted to put 3 tiny figurines in the park, but later decided to put them in environment, take photos and later have sturdy prints on DiBond which I put on the exterior wall of Gymnasium.
Luckily bad boys don’t touch my Moon and Mole from 2007. I suppose it is because they themselves helped me to build, sand and install it.

| 10. August 2008Just returned from „Art Omi“ international artists residency in upstate New York, USA. There were around 30 artists from around the world, we became friends and I am going to miss them a lot…
I think it was the most intense time in my whole life – besides working on new ideas, creating installation and spending time with fellow artists we had visitors program where roughly 40 curators, critics, dealers and NY gallery owners walked through our studios and I had some conversation with most of them. Intense, but I hope some contacts later will work.
I will remember warm, black nights and crazy little stars all around us – fireflies.
